So, the answer depends from organisation to organisation and its NOT a standard anywhere. From an interview point of view, you need to be honest to answer these questions and if you are not working anywhere, you can not say that you are handling any 'n' number of databases or servers! I wil answer here but that is purely for your understanding only. But I would highly recommend you to come online during my chat sessions and ask your questions directly there. Your answers:

1. What is the overall size of your SQL Server? - I didn't get this. Can you explain what do you mean by overall Size of SQL Sever? If you are talking about numbers, we manage more than 500 servers.

2. How many SQL Servers you are working with? - more than 500.

3. How many instances and for what purpose they are used? - Some default and some named instances. The instances depends on the applications and other factors.

3. How many databases and the size of each database? - more than 500 servers has more than a 25,000 databases! Each have thier own usage depending upon the application they host.

4. Each database consists of how many tables? - Again it varies and depends upon the application they host.

5. Hardware specs (CPU’s, memory, Storage) - Most of the servers are of latest technologies with 64 bit Xeon processors, 64 Gigs RAM and SAN storages.
