I would say experience always helps! But having said that, you should focus on streamlining your career to one technology. And as you know, since the DBA has to interact with SysAdmins, Architects, Program Managers, sometimes with developers and other teams as and when required, an overall knowledge surely gives him more power than the others.
I would suggest you to go as per your interest but if the DBA stuff keeps you busy and makes you happy, you may continue and work towards becoming a skilled DBA.
